Do you allow school fieldtrips in the Gorge?Student Tours (High School grades 9-12 and University level):
- School groups are limited to no more than 20 students, with two teachers (or one teacher and another adult), for a maximum of 22.
- It is recommended that High School student tours be held during school hours, M-F.
- School groups below 9th grade will be coordinated with the GBRA Education Director who may ask the GPS for Guide/Docent assistance.
- Home schooled youth groups will follow the same adult/child ratio listed for public/group tours.
- If a high school student group larger than 20 but less than 30 requests a tour, they can be offered a short tour. This modified tour would last only 1½ hours and would bring them out after Pride Rock. At least three teachers or adult chaperones would be required, for a maximum of 33.
- If a group larger than 30 but less than 60 request a tour, GPS could partner with the USCOE and split the group into two small groups. The Corps would take ½ of the students on a tour of the dam, while the GPS provides the “short tour” to the other ½ of the group, and then switch. Each ½ group would be required to have at least three teachers/adult chaperones.
- Professors requesting to conduct their own student tour through the Gorge will have at least one Guide/Docent accompany them.
